EYECANDY SMÖRGASBORD feat. DIIV for YSL, Stromae, Chance the Rapper, Hannelore Knuts, Woody Allen, etc.
Zacharay Smith, lead shoe gazer of DIIV (who used to be Dive), is the latest addition the Hedi Slimane campaign roster. DIIV is one of those bands most people don’t make a lot of fuss about, but I’m never disappointed when I hear new tracks drifting by. The YSL site has new music to score the new pics. Well worth checking out.
My favorite news story this week:
spent a day pretending to be drunk at a busy Brussels intersection. People YouTube’d and Instagram’d (Instagrammed?) the crap out of it and lots media picked up the story as a scandal. In fact, the lil’ rascal was filming his newest video for ‘Formidable’ with a bunch of carefully placed hidden cams. Shamefaced apologies from ‘respectable’ media ensued. Apart from being a statement about our obsession with stupid celebrity stories and negativity, the song itself is a powerful piece of storytelling, told from the point of view of someone who just broke up with the love of his life and is lashing out at passers-by. Millions of YouTube views in a matter of days, and deservedly so.
Belgian model and all-round wonderful wacko
is trying to start a new trend on her Facebook page:
boyfriend bearding / girlfriend bearding
with her boo Nicolas Provost.
Chance the Rapper,
meanwhile, is spending his time in smoke-filled rides, which is a biting social commentary on … erm.. nothing really, unless you count lyrics like ‘they are piss/ need to be potty trained’. Lots of fun, though.
Ok, two funny ones to end:
It’s not about the nail
… and an
unaired Woody Allen interview, recorded in 1971
