Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

Belgian band Warhaus, fronted by Maarten Devoldere of Balthazar and Sylvie Kreusch of Soldier’s Heart, needed a video for their new single ‘Machinery’ off of their debut record 'We Fucked a Flame Into Being'. It’s clear they know what’s good, because they were able to enlist the ever-discerning eye and director’s hand of Willy Vanderperre to bring their tune to life. The song is a sweltering, brassy passion piece and the video’s blue-hued, oh-so-Belgian reception hall is an exquisite scene to set lyrics like “I don’t claim to be sober, I don’t claim to be right”. Devoldere gives that ‘earnest but misguided drunk dude climbs on makeshift stage at the end of the local function to lay out his feels’ performance to a tee, while Kreusch flings herself into the character of last girl standing with aplomb and the perfect amount of sequins. A mysterious third character played by producer Jasper Maekelberg enters the scene, expertly coiffed by Anthony Turner. It’s the sort of enthralling, ‘small’ beauty only a Willy Vanderperre video can bring you.

There’s more to look forward to, though. On March 1st, Vanderperre will be dropping the first two in a series of twelve fanzines featuring the models that inspire him. Published by IDEA under the title ‘/12’, those first two zines will be dedicated to freshly shorn male model icon Clément Chabernaud and long-time muse Julia Nobis. The launch of ‘/12’ and its first two issues will be celebrated at Comme Des Garçons Trading Museum in Paris on March 1. So, save the date and for more updates, you’re going to want to subscribe to the IDEA mailing list because these zines won’t be sitting pretty on the racks for long.
