RECORD CHECK

image210.jpg This is the kind of thing that puts a spring in my step, a smile on my face and ... uhm some swashbuckle in my swagger?

Any DJ sharing their private vinyl stash in a free downloadable mix is allright in my book. And when that DJ is NYC-based DJ Ayres, well that just makes me one happy pappy.

Playlist: 1. Raydio - “More Than One Way to Love A Woman” 2. The Jones Girls - “Nights Over Egypt” 3. Change - “The Glow of Love” 4. Rufus and Chaka - “Any Love” 5. Machine - “There But for the Grace of God Go I” 6. MFSB - “Love is the Message” (Tee Scott mix) 7. The Underground Solution - “Luv Dancin” 8. Vin Zee - “Funky Bebop” 9. Sugar Bear - “Don’t Scandalise Mine” 10.The Black Dog - “Age of Slack”

Words from the DJ: “It’s great to have tons of record knowledge at your fingertips on the internet, but I sort of miss the “dark ages” when we had to learn about records from other DJs, make lists and seek them out at the flea markets and used stores. For me it was never about rarity, just having all the music I wanted to play, although the reward was a lot greater when you found something that had been on your list for years. I think the slowness of that process made DJs spend more time with the records they were playing and I definitely see a big shift lately. DJs want to have everything right now, and for free. So here are some gems that I bought back then and I still play now. ”
