What? Movie version of the legendary children's story by Maurice Sendak. The script was written by Spike Jonze and Dave Eggers. Dave is also re-working the script into a novel.
Why? Because "What is the What?" by Dave Eggers is one of the best books to have come out this century and Spike Jonze is one of the most innovative directors working today.
Drive slow, homey: When Spike Jonze leaked test footage on the web in 2008, the response was quite tepid. Probably because audiences are not used to seeing unfinished images with badly dubbed sound and no added effects. Critics who have seen the finished product, claim this is going to be one of the most beautiful films of the year.
