There’s a specific, heady mix of satisfaction that takes over when you know your look is both sickening as well as completely sustainable. Fortunately, Belgian designer Mats Rombaut just presented the SS18 collection of his vegan, genderless and eco-friendly footwear line ROMBAUT during Paris Fashion Week and it’s another kicker.
Next spring’s collection offers a renewal of beloved models from previous seasons, as well as the introduction of a future stalwart, the ‘BOCCACCIO’ (a nod to the Florentine poet or the legendary late-80s Belgian dance club?). The shoe’s muscular rolling-wave sole immediately induced sister-stomps-street-in-Buffalo-boots flashbacks in me, a gleeful connection I’m sure many will experience at first glance. The BOCCACCIO will range from EU sizes 36-47 and will be available as from December 2017.
Working with photographer Kito Muñoz, lensman for Palomo Spain’s queer-centric campaigns, an accompanying preview of ROMBAUT’s SS18 campaign significantly heightens the frisson and provocativeness established with previous presentations and lookbooks. If you’re scrolling in public, you might want to tilt your screen towards you in that I-just-opened-Tumblr type of way. Scorchio!
