58th Venice Biennale Arte 2019 (from May 5 2019)

The art world descends on Venice once more! The 58th Biennale, “May You Live In Interesting Times”, is curated by Ralph Rugoff, director of the London Hayward Gallery. This edition reflects on the troubling times we live in & the new post-war order (Jos De Gruyter & Harald Thys are representing Belgium). Coinciding with the Biennale is a major Luc Tuymans retrospective at Palazzo Grassi, a double whammy! “Black Models” @ Musée d’Orsay Paris (Until July 21)

New Paris expo “Black models: from Géricault to Matisse” looks at the portraiture of Black models from abolition-era France to the early 20th-century avant-garde movement & contemporary art. Focusing on the dialogue between the artist & models, the exhibition explores the representation of Black subjects in works by Géricault, Manet, Cézanne, Matisse & many more. From March 26 - July 21.
