The mercurial maverick and metal music cult icon Mike Patton teamed up with French pop music cult icon Jean-Claude Vannier - who arranged Serge Gainsbourg’s “Histoire de Melody Nelson” - to create a strange and alluring album called “Corpse Flower”. It’s an album of stories, and not many happy endings. “A Schoolgirl’s Day” is a perfect fit for Halloween, especially now that it’s soundtracking a re-edit of the 1962 cult horror classic “Carnival of Souls”. So yeah, three times the word “cult” in one intro. It’s not for everyone, but the ones who like this stuff will love it viscerally.
