Belgian designers A.F. Vandevorst will be presenting their second collaboration with artist Joris Van de Moortel, “Ne Vacuum”, this Friday. Turning Antwerp gallery Sofie Van de Velde into a butcher’s, they’ll chop up pieces from their AW15 collection like prime sirloin and seal the remnants in airtight bags, which are for sale.
Why I’m very curious to see what they have in store? Allow me to paint the following scene:
It’s 2010 and my whole crew is shutting it down at some fashiÜn event. We've just walked in the room and I’ve already assaulted Haider Ackermann by shooting off max fanboy glares. However, peak excitement had not been reached because this hadn’t happened yet:
I was happy AF. You can see that arm around me, right?
You could not have told me that I wasn’t André Leon Talley. In fact, if you would've taken a word association survey that night - as one does - this would’ve come up:
Other girls: Johnny Depp
Other girls: where can I donate?
Me: stitching on a chunky A.F. boot!
Five years and several haircuts later, I still have a special bond with the designer pair. For their first collab with Van de Moortel, “White Light Paint A.F. White”, they blasted their dark AW15 pieces with a white paint gun at Paris Fashion Week. And guess which shop window mannequin I look at every day on my way home from work? Homegirl is decked out in an explosion of Vandevorst/Van de Moortel. I cop a look every time.
Pictured above is the exact collection they’ll be slicing up on Friday. If you want to get you some, you can purchase 1/100 pieces for 99 EUR. The literal slayage, though.
