Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince aka The Kills are back and they most certainly did not come to play.
I have the best memories of Domino sending us "Midnight Boom" in 2008, me pressing play and our daughter -who was still a toddler back then- starting to dance around the living room. I joined in and we didn't stop until the album ended. Her dad and I repeated this every Saturday morning with her for almost a year.
Alison and Jamie just dropped their new single and video "Doing It To Death" and it precedes their fifth studio album "Ash & Ice".
I'm a complete atheist but I've been obsessed with the aesthetics of the SoCal church-goer for a while now, which probably means I should stop watching 'Rich In Faith', but it's also why 4 seconds into this video I was already yelling "dooooopPPPPe" and making everyone in the office pay attention.
The video was directed by Wendy Morgan who is known for incorporating choreography and culture in the visuals for the artists and brands she shoots for.
Styled by Young-Ah Kim incorporating a lot of Saint Laurent by Hedi Slimane of course.
From the press release :
Ash & Ice is the follow up to 2011’s critically lauded Blood Pressures and was five years in the making in part due to Jamie Hince’s five hand surgeries, which resulted in him having to re-learn how to play guitar with a permanently damaged finger.Unlike earlier albums, which have largely been written and recorded at Key Club Studio in Benton Harbor, Michigan, the bulk of the recording for Ash & Ice took place in a rented house in LA and at the world famous Electric Lady Studios in NYC. The album was produced by Jamie Hince and co-produced by John O’Mahony (Metric, The Cribs), and mixed by Tom Elmhirst (Adele, Arcade Fire, Amy Winehouse) and Tchad Blake (Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys).
