Obongjayar is one of the most promising artists out there today, and his new video for “Never Change” is proof again of his unique, emotionally raw and sometimes surprisingly radio-friendly music. The song was inspired by his childhood in Nigeria and his current struggle to hang on to the innocence of that period as a young man in London. The video is full of arresting images and symbolic references to Luis Buñuel. If this is the sound of the future, I’ll be happy to live in it.
Directed by Duncan Loudon.
