There’s no looking away from the new Vic Mensa ’16 Shots’ video. Taken from his debut EP, ‘There’s Alot Going On’, the 5-minute clip and protest song features dash cam footage from the shooting of 17 year-old Laquan McDonald, who was killed by Chicago PD just a year ago. Real life is paired with fictional cops beating, tazing and finally shooting Mensa, who is wearing a custom Levi’s jacket with the word ‘RESIST’ emblazoned on it. Chalk body outlines form a Keith Haring-esque mosaic, representing all those lost at the hands of police brutality. If you’re too weary to watch another harrowing piece of footage like this, you should stream the track here though, because the lyrics alone cannot be ignored.
